getting my truck today
my truck is showing up a week earlier then i expected its a 57 w/ 56 front sheetmetal. it does need the work but i dont expect much for the price of $250. has the typical floor. cab corner rust, but im ahead of the game already my buddy just gave a pr of new floorboards he wont be using. I will be looking for a pr of rear fenders and tailgate in the near future. I will get more pics when it gets here (couple of teaser pics)

Re: getting my truck today
Floor first. You need the cab to be in its correct position prior to doing any door work. Otherwise you will never get the doors to line up.

Re: getting my truck today
thanx Daniel, I dont really need another project like this but i have been looking for awhile to find another 55-59. Now its time for the tear down part of it but i am going to try to see if i can fire the old 235, had it cranking over lastnite but no spark. will get to it later today, and hope to order my front cab supports today also. Im also thinking about using another frame as I want to sit low. Im thinking maybe an s-10 or or a dakota chassiswill have to do some maesurements and hit the boneyard.will get some pics of the tear down today i go along

Re: getting my truck today
I would leave the doors on until you get the floor stiffened up. That way you can see if the gaps look ok. if the hinges are shot then is make no difference.

Re: getting my truck today
its hard to tell if the hinges are shot, the bottom hinge area on the cab itself are shotalong with tha cab mounts, on driversside anyway wil have to look the whole truck over from underneath

Re: getting my truck today
Nice looking project. Don't get discouraged with it. Here is a pic (only one I have right now) of my Dad's '57 he got off a friend for $500.00 bucks. It was all in pieces and boxes. Take your time with it, it will get there.

Re: getting my truck today
Well like most of the waiting on parts is a pain, if possible i like to make my own parts and i took a couple of hours to see wha i could do for a cab support and this is what i came up with. started with a bed support and trimmed it down, 1st pic (top to bottom) original mount, bed support, and finished product, let me know what you think
support in place floor pan setting in place

Re: getting my truck today
didnt do to much the past couple of days, but i did get the passenger side door off and cleaned up alittle, and also put the floor pan in place and used self tap screws to hold it in place. i guess the ? is, should I leave at this point till i get the other side in place and the other repair panels tacked in or just weld the floorpan in and be done with it

Re: getting my truck today
I'd treat the rust issue before you weld anything down permanantly. Just my .02
