Calling all 55-59's
Thinking about getting started on my '59 shortstep, 81 camaro subframe, little bit of this little bit of that.. So with that said lets see all of you guys' 55-59's with a couple pictures and a few details about the truck for a little kickoff celebration ..
I'll start with mine.. That's me with the old girl last winter/springish.. my dad and i bought the truck about 3 years ago and did not know much at all about these old trucks at all.. but thanks to you guys we have learned probably a little too much.. his dad had a '58 short step when he was a kid and we saw this truck one day and fell in love with it, went over and bought the truck.. all we have done is redid the interior, bought a 81 camaro for subframe, disk brakes, ps, pb, etc.. ready to get started on her! |

Yes they are 17's, Torq Thrust II's, they have to be cleaned up from sitting so long but they will shine up nice.

Re: Calling all 55-59's
Here's my '55. I've got kind of a build thread that's titled, "What I've been working on....". It's got a '70 Camaro subframe, so if you've got questions, I'll help in any way I can.

Oddly enough I didn't care much for the fleetsides..........however, since I have bought this one I have a whole new appreciation for them. Kinda wished I had done a fleetside in a prostreet version.......BTW, you have a great looking truck and I am sure that it will continue to evolve into the ride of your dreams....(especially if you keep hanging out on this site..) |

Re: Calling all 55-59's
This is mine. The cab and box were mounted on a '64 chassis from a short box donor. A camaro steering box would probably help the handling.

Re: Calling all 55-59's
Yeah, it's got 2 1/2" drop spindles in the front and 3" drop coils in the rear. I plan to drop the rear some more to level it out some, but will probably halfta do a "C" notch. I didn't do the install. I intended to but was too busy with an out of town project, so I farmed out the work. Had disc brakes done at the same time and retained the 6 lugs. The master cylinder with booster is still under the floor. Sorry no pics.
