Needing Help on 62 chevy??
I am new to the site. Doing a groud up restore on a 62 C10 automatic 2 wheel drive long bed.
Question 1) Can I use the front crossmember from an 85 chevy c1500 and bolt it on to the 62 so i can have the power steering and disk brakes? Any problems i might find or any suggestions Question 2) How hard is it to put a 350 in to replace the 235 inline? It is coming out of the 85 chevy. What problems might I run in to? Thanks for any suggestions, Kirk-KK2842 Abilene, TX |

Re: Needing Help on 62 chevy??
I put a 86 front end on my 63 chevy when i had it. Everything bolted up except 1 hole on each side. I used a booster and master cylinder from a
94ish comaro. ill post a pic, i think you can see the master cylinder. I didnt have any problems with the front end install though. I plan on doing the same thing to my 64 gmc. As far as the engine swap goes, i dont know what to tell ya, the 63 and 64 both had v8s in them before i got them.

Re: Needing Help on 62 chevy??
The torsion bar setup will be removed when you install the 85' front cross member, it has the coil spring suspension like all the rest 63-87 chevy trucks

Re: Needing Help on 62 chevy??
I removed mine, used a 86' front crossmember rotor to rotor, used the booster and master cylinder, used the fuseblock and wire loom, to include the steering column. It can be easily done, also put in a TH350 and older 350 then changed to a 700R4.
Now that is the way to do it. I would say you saved some serious cash doing that way.

Re: Needing Help on 62 chevy??
My '62 is set up the same way. 73-ish front suspension, no more torsion bars, 70's style master cylinder and booster...
