Truck wont start.
Ok, so I took the truck to get smogged today, and on the way home I was driving on the freeway, when the gas pedal stopped working. I would press it down, but nothing would happen. So I pulled off the road, and stopped. I tried the gas again, nothing. So I turned the truck of, and checked it out. What I found was a hose that goes from the canister to the top of the front of the carb had a large hole burnt in it, fresh burn.
So I figured that must be the problem, so I kink the hose, try and start the truck, and it wont go. It will crank but not fire up. So I get it towed home, replace the hose, and the truck still, will not fire up. It cranks, gets gas, but will just not fire up. I even tried a little carb start spray, but got nothing. What do you guys think the problem is? |

Re: Truck wont start.
Where it is getting fuel, it has to be spark. either none, or timing. If you didn't hear valves hitting pistons, I doubt if it jumped time. so that leaves it as a distributer problem. bad module, lost input power to coil, fried coil.

Re: Truck wont start.
89crew, I'm pretty sure that even if you lose a timing chain in a 350, the pistons shouldn't hit the valves. I just don't think that particular engine is designed that way. So Rc 415, you might want to check the timing too.

Re: Truck wont start.
If you don't have spark, and the coil ckecks out, then look for a broken wire to the pick-up coil in the base of the distributor.

Re: Truck wont start.
you want to verify that the distributer is turning. I would still expect it to be a module.
