Cool Tranny convertion options?

What manual trans missions will work with our trucks?

Can I get a 5 speed from a 88-98?

Or would a 4 speed work better? Which one?

Do I need high hump cab?

How hard is it to convert an auto to a manual, adding pedal and cutting floor?

So many questions.

Try Keisler Engineering. Do a Google search for their site.

From what I've read in Zumo's posts, Keisler isn't in the budget.

The later model 5spds will work but are going to require switching to a different bellhousing set-up (old style = push clutch; new style = pull clutch). That requires the swap to hydraulic clutch which adds to the complexity.

Any reason why there's no option for an auto O.D.?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: Tranny convertion options?

Just entertaining the idea.

I have a stock 400 trans that needs a rebuild and I don't know if I should get it rebuilt and re install it or could I trade it for a newer one with OD?

There are people out there that would rather have a well built t400 vs. a 700r4 & would most likely work some sort of trade out (that's how I got my 700r4.... 1 used t400 & yoke + some cash for a built 700r4 w/convertor & yoke).
