Staggered tire sizes, opinions?

I just bought two new tires today. Truck has like a 3/4 drop.

I have 225/70/15's in the front and I'm going to be putting 255/70/15 in the rear. They are noticably wider with only a slightly taller overall diameter, so I'm interested to see what they will look like with my drop.

If I don't like the look, I'm just gonna get two new ones for the front to match the rear.

Anyone done this on the rallies before? What do you guys think? I'm still undecided but excited to try it!

Wow 48 views and no replies huh...

If anyone cares, I put them on, and it looks good like this.

Re: Staggered tire sizes, opinions?

Sorry I didnt see this post when you asked. Here is my truck with 275/60s in the back and 255/60s in the front. The only thing I would change is maybe go with a 15x7 rally wheel in the front instead of the 15x8.

I've never ran the same size tires front & rear in my 25yrs of owning/operating vehicles. I'll go out on a limb & say it will work ok.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Wow BowTie that is sweet!

Mine doesnt look nearly that good! My problem is that the only tire I could find within my price range was a little too tall, but it was my only option for a staggered size.

I think your sizes look great and that will probably be my next combo.

IIRC, I currently have 225/75's on 6.5" ralleys (F) & 255/70's on 8" ralleys (R) on my 74.

My four wheel drives definitely run the same size tires all around, (for obvious reasons) but I have always ran different size front vs. rear tires since I can remember. My chevy is staggered. I won't state the current tire sizes, but hey! We are just coming out of winter here! My warm season tires will be going back on this weekend, if all goes well.

Here's my 84 SWB with 245/60 and 275/60 Radial T/A's... The wheels are 15x6 and 15x8 Cragar SS's.

Awesome stance man! That's really what I need to do with mine! I hate spending money on tires, but I think I may eventually have to go with some like that!

Re: Staggered tire sizes, opinions?

Thanks... The stance is pretty close to what I want. It has spindles in the front and shackles/hangers/one leaf removed in the rear. With all same-size tires it sits perfectly level, but has a pretty good rake with the 245's and 275's.

Look around tire shops for 275-60-15's, they are a very common size. A buddy of mine comes across 6-8 used ones each month. I bought four for $60 and have burned them off, better than new. Soon it will be time for some more...
