vent window seals

i want to change my vent window seals. i see in all the catalogs some rivets and a tool to install them.

has anyone done this themselves ??? are they regular rivets ??? and can a regular punch be used to install them ???

i just dont want to get it apart and not have something i need to finish the job.

They use a special "punch" to seat them, but I bet you could do the same thing with a punch ground to a point to flare the rivet and a flat punch to flatten it. There are a couple rivets that are fun to do even with the right tool. The top ones where there's not a lot of room to get the tool in there.

I did it with a regular rivet tool. It was a little tricky to get it in the corners without scratching the fresh paint on the frames, but it seems to have worked fine.

The special rivits I got from truckandcarshop were too short. I used regular pop rivits
