getting speedo and odo right
I have a '72 C10 street rod I bought last summer - now I'd like to make some changes. I don't know a lot about this stuff, so hang in there with me... The truck has a 4.11 rear (I'm told by the seller), and I believe the wheels are a non-stock size. So, the speedo and odo don't read right (actual 50 mph reads as 65 or so). The transmission is a TH350, and the gauges look stock. I found on the internet that I can get a ratio adapter, but only after some calculating. Can anybody advise on the best way to get the gauges to read right?

Re: getting speedo and odo right
well the first thing you need is a long term plan// do you intend to keep the 4:11 gears or plan to get something more gas friendly do you like the present wheel tire combo are you going to stick with the th350 or upgrade to an overdrive tranny only after you have all those issues fixed in stone does it pay to dialin the speedo

Re: getting speedo and odo right
thanks for the reply! the answer to all those is a definite "I don't know yet". my bet is I'll keep the wheels/tires and the rear, but go to an overdrive trans, like 700R4, and go to upgraded gauges then. but I won't do anything until the Fall. I'd like the speedo/odo fix before then, even if it's temporary.

You could check out a place like this- http://www.speedometershop.com/ratio.html
but I don't know what it would cost.
