tip in bog problem

Ive had this problem with my truck for some time now. Its really apparent when cold, but hardly there once warm [but deffenatly still there] When first touching the gas pedal to start, I mean just barely out of the idle circut and into the primary circut, it bogs for a second. This is only when giving slight gas. If I stomp on it, theres no problem [except all the tire smoke ]

Timing is set, no vaccum leaks. Im thinking it could be one of a few things. ONE: accelerator pump shot is either too big or too small. TWO: Idle circut is not the right mixture THREE: timing needs to be changed. Its at 8 degrees BTDC right now, its runs best there. What are your guys's opinions? This is on my 79 BTW, vortec 350, RPM intake, 600cfm carter carb, HEI with MSD coil.

Dump the Carter and get a Q-jet and I can help.

Oh, I forgot, you don't like good carbs.

What notch is the pump rod on? Might try changing that up or down to see if it helps any before changing out the pump.

LOL, you guys are a bunch of help! Dave, I hear ya on the temp thing. One week were in 110 degree weather, then BAM! 70's all day long with 50 degree nights. All in the course of about 4 days. The truck sure does run better with the cool air though.

That temp change made me sick

I still cant decide what to do. At night I need the AC on, but in the morning I wish the heat would kick on (in the house).

I found this to be weird. I have (2) 12's behind my seat in seperate boxes. Well when I went from the Kenwoods to the MTX (for warranty reasons). I had to buy these little cups that make the box a little bigger (you cut a hole in the wood and install this thin steel cup). Well one of the cups vibrates like crazy (sounds very very bad) in the morning, but not in the afternoon. Isnt that weird? I wonder if its the temperture throughout the day. Ohh well I need to fix it either way.

Ed, that is wierd. I say wrap the metal things in rubber to stop the vibratiing. Hopfully that will work. You get sick from the weather changes? I had been sick TWICE in my entire life [15 years] until I moved here, now once a year when the temp changes so quickly I get a cough that wont go away for at least a month. And my allergys get bad now too
Except for the rust free trucks and cars, I HATE az.

All mexico is really good for is alcohol and prescription pills. niether of which I do. The "other" stuff [] dosent count cause none of it is making it into the US anymore. Plus this heat, I just cant take it. I need snow!!

tom i know how you feel i very seldom got sick while living in arizona and my allergies hardly ever acted up there but in the year ive lived in nevada ive been sick 2 times and my allergies are always acting up.i dont hate nevada so much just the weather and some of the people here suck.

Tom , move your accelerator pump rod to the top hole to give it more of a fuel shot on take off, i would bet that is where it is.

I cant believe yall are complaining about ARIZONA. when i went on vacation this summer, most of it was spent in ARIZONA. i loved it there. even better than NEW MEXICO. the weather was dry, NO HUMIDITY. and the state was just fantastic.

BTW, weather dont affect my truck it always runs the same.

aside from a few things i like arizona besides its home im from there and i was raised there.i live in nevada now but im starting to get sick and tired of las vegas for some reason.i like the town itself but there people from here are really getting on my last good nerve

I like Arizona also, but I never lived anywhere else. If I ever did move I would probly move somewhere where I could have more land with nice green grass and trees. I would want my closest neighbor to be about a block away. That would be pretty cool.

Tom I may need to get a first time home buyers loan from you. I currently rent my moms house from here, but she wants to sell it sometime soon Anyway she has changed her mind many a time so Im not sure whats going on. First she told me pay X$ and you can stay till Jan. Then she said you can stay as long as you want if the house doesnt cost me anything (I would be living in her house and paying it off for her). Not a bad deal for either of us. Its a 4 bedroom, 2 bath, and its only like $600 for morgage. It even has a pool, but needs a resurface big time!

Anyway when I decide to buy a house of my own, or with my lady. I will check you out. You better hook it up too!

You guys just all need to move to Oregon.

There're no hurricanes, no earthquakes...only the occasional fire. Not much in the way of crime here. We have beautiful trees, lakes, rivers and it's so green! The rain isn't as bad as you think and if you're in the right place (like where I live) there's no snow except on the mountains and once in a while on the valley floor but it only stays till noon most of the time. If you want snow, it's only an hour (or less) drive to play and then leave when you're done with it. The vehicles don't get badly rusted that I've seen.
I get allergies in spring for a month or two but as long as I'm taking my vitamins, then they aren't too bad.

My only complaint about this place is the area I'm in doesn't have a whole lot of major corporations, so employers aren't competing for their employees so the wages aren't as good as you could get else where. But things are starting to change and if you're in the right field, you can do really well here.

Okay...so a little OT but I had to put a little plug for Oregon in here

Naw.
I wanted to move over the summer...REAL bad. But then there were other circumstances going on that kinda fed that feeling.
But I've decided to stay here for awhile. Got a good thing going with school here...can't complain...it's FREE!
And the type of work I do allows me to live anywhere I want to so the job market here doesn't affect me too much.
