Re: 65 short bed GMC-Nissan?
just like using an s10 chassis. Gives it modern suspension, i guess the Nissan motor and drive train, so basically its a modern truck that looks old.
i would never do it, but that doesn't necessarily mean its bad.

Yup, happens to the best of us as my hairline will attest-
We did a round of Crescent stories back in April when I posted pics of my (new to me) 66 El Camino on here. BTW, car shows Sat. 28th at Shawnee park and UCO in Edmond; maybe I'll see you there. |

Re: 65 short bed GMC-Nissan?
I'm surprised the width is even close. My dad had a little Nissan truck for years, but they're pretty narrow. Still seems like a pretty odd hybrid. I'd rather see Corvette suspension grafted on (assuming you could keep the weight down).

Re: 65 short bed GMC-Nissan?
You guys are looking at this all wrong, by using nissan, he has 6 lug disc brakes and a classic truck that get 30 mpg and drives down the highway comfortably. Its a far cry from a SBC with a 465 behind it, but with fuel over $4 a gallon, I think its a good idea. cake and eat it.
and a classic truck that get 30 mpgQUOTE]
I have to disagree on that kd. I had a 93 4x4 4 cyl that got about 22mpg, my Dad has an 89 2wd 4cyl that gets about 24 or so and a brother that has an Xterra with the V6 and he gets around 18-22 in it. These little trucks are geared so they can pull a decent load with what little power they have. I would agree with all of the other reasons you listed though. |

It was just for example, I have no idea what a nissan gets for mpg, 18-24 is pretty good for a 40+ year old truck anyway you look at it.[/QUOTE That is very true. |

Re: 65 short bed GMC-Nissan?
Not worth the amount of work on a C-10 that already has a modern suspension.
I'd do it to a AD though, I have a '54 that will sit on a S-10 one day.

i wonder how it will hold up, i still wouldn't care for it, but would have less heart-burn if it were a S-10 frame. the Nissan stuff just seems too light duty for one of our trucks. seems it would over work the Nissan drive train and brakes. hell, if you want a v-6, how about a early 90's efi 4.3. i have thought about that swap quite a bit, would probably need a standard over-drive tranny to make it drivable. i'm torn between horse-power and economy, guess i need a LSx engine, and auto over drive All it takes is money!
