Which S10 frame can you use??

I have been offered a 51 Cherolet 3100 truck. It is a 3/4 ton now, but if I bought it I would want to do the S10 frame swap so I'll have all the modern brakes and etc. The truck has no bed, so basically it is just the cab and front clip. Did they have different bed sizes in 51.
I have access to a 94 longbed S10. Would I have to shorten or lengthen the frame to make it work??
Any info would be appreciated.

Re: Which S10 frame can you use??

If all you are working with is the cab and front clip off of the '51, then you can choose to keep it a 3/4 ton by using the s10 extended cab frame (122"). Or you can use a 1/2 ton bed, and go with the s10 regular cab long bed (117"). I'm keeping my as a 1/2 ton. The issue I ran into was the radiator core support. Short of building your own custom core support, your cab will have to be atleast 5 to 6 inches off the frame. I'm sure there is a way to get around this, but not without a lot of frabrication. Also, if you choose to go lower, a hump for the tranny comes into play.

Re: Which S10 frame can you use??

Thanks, Jeff. If I decide to tackle this job. I will be going with the shorter of the the two. Thats good though since The S10 I have is a regular cab longbed.
