Cab painted (pics)
I just finished painting the cab on my project. It didn't turn out too bad, but there are some sags from the temp not quite being warm enough. I may sand them in the morning and reshoot.
What'd'ya think?

I'm wondering how you involved the leaf blower in the painting process.... :-)

Looks great to me. Can't see any orange peel in the reflections on the side and roof. Nice booth, looks like what I have planned. Any nibs/trash to sand out? Single stage or base/clear?

Re: Cab painted (pics)
Thanks all!!! I wish I could say it's a perfect paint job.. There is absolutely no orange peel, but there are a few runs that I'll need to sand out this morning and possibly reshoot. Maybe using the leaf blower wasn't such a good idea...

Re: Cab painted (pics)
My gun is actually a pretty good Devillbis. The reducer I'm using is a slow evaporating, so it has a chance to smooth out the paint before it sets up. That's also the reason for the runs..

Re: Cab painted (pics)
Ok, just sprayed the final coat. It feels warm to me outside, but I just looked and it's only 60 degrees. I wish I had some faster reducer, but I'm happy with the results. Once color sanded, it should look good.

Paint looks good! When I read your post about it not being hot enough, well I just had to laugh to myself. It's a somewhat cool day at only 112 here

Re: Cab painted (pics)
Rick, I know what you mean.. This was a huge accomplishment, but now I'm looking at the doors, cowl, hood, and fenders that need paint, not to mention the bed that I haven't even started on yet. I've painted probably 15 cars in the past 21 years, but sometimes I feel like I still don't have the hang of it. There's always something I forget to do or do wrong.. I had the surface perfect when I sprayed on the paint that ran, and this morning after I sprayed on the paint perfect, I noticed lint from the towels I was using to wipe it down... Fortunately they hardly show and will color sand out, but it always seems like somethings got to go wrong.............
112 DEGREES!!! Holy cow! It was in the 90's here a couple weeks ago and was too hot do do anything outside. Oh yeah, but it's a dry heat... ![]()

Re: Cab painted (pics)
nice paint job... i used to help paint in a garage with a dirt floor, never any dirt in the paint, wetit down first, but you opened up the doors, and evey gnat and bug in those carolina pine trees would flock to it...
