1964 C-10 Panel with Cummins power
Figured it's about time I publish my truck here. I bought this truck a few months ago and started to tear it down. I've always had a soft spot for panel trucks and always wanted a truck with a cummins. So now two desires are coming out in one build. Here's pics in it's current state.

Re: 1964 C-10 with Cummins power
here's the roof, it needs a little touch-up. The last pic is what the previoushack, I mean owner, thought was roof repair! There's enough bondo on this truck to skim coat a sky scraper.

Re: 1964 C-10 with Cummins power
Here's my 3.9L 4bt and a turbo off of a 1996 5.9L 6bt to wake the little fella up some. It'll run around 20psi boost in stock form, but i think i'll change the waste gate to bump it up to 30psi

Re: 1964 C-10 with Cummins power
It's mostly for fuel economy. I'm planning on 150-175hp and 400-450ft/lb's. not bad for a 4-banger.

That's a mighty nice one, but I'm thinking a little lower. as in frame on dirt.

Re: 1964 C-10 with Cummins power
If you look around you should be able to find a motor/tranny set-up for $1500-$2000. You just have to keep your eyes open and buy one from somebody who wrecked their truck. That's for a 12v I don't know how much it would cost for a 24v. Plus, if you go with a 24 valve, then you need to run the computer.

Re: 1964 C-10 with Cummins power
This thing is gonna be SWEET !!!
I love the sound of un-corked Diesels.....I just yanked the muffler off of my '06 F-350 work truck....sounds ok, but nothing like a straight pipe'd Cummins !!! This POS has a Cat....or a soot filter....(??) Cool man..get on it !!!

Re: 1964 C-10 with Cummins power
I'm planning on a 4" down pipe w/ a split to Dual 3's and side exit right infront of the rear wheels. I'll be blowin' black out both sides!

Re: 1964 C-10 with Cummins power
Will the pan clear the cross-member okay? I knew a guy who did a swap on his Landcruiser and he eneded up doing a four-inch lift to clear the 4bt. With a two-whhel drive, I wonder if it'd matter.
Keep at it, and tell us how it comes along. I have a '66 Burb I've given serious consideration to converting with an Isuzu diesel. Oh yeah, and post a lot of pictures!!! |

Re: 1964 C-10 with Cummins power
That's a clean Dodge. I much prefer that body style to the current offerings.
When you think diesel pickup, that's the truck that comes to mind. Iconic! |

Re: 1964 C-10 with Cummins power
The motor will clear the cross member and stay inder the hood on a 2wd, but the same is not true for a 4x4, at least not on a 73-87, then you'll need a body lift or a custom cross member w/ a suspension lift.
I already have a 1983 c20, 6bt, slightly modded turbo, getrag, 2wd, 4.10's 14 bolt full floater (already killed 2 semi-floaters, those spider pins are WEAK!)
