Dropmember Competition ?? Have you guys seen this yet?
Suicide Doors is making life easier for fullsizes now. Not just the S10's and minis.
I miss the idea of fabrication. http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f125/s...to-fsc-363704/ Last edited by camaro__thunder; 08-06-2008 at 10:05 AM. Reason: pic added |

Re: Dropmember Competition ?? Have you guys seen this yet?
Amazing..... Front stuff looks like a Dropmember w/the req'd differences to avoid legal issues.
Nice looking rear kit. I don't get the body mounts though..... they don't seem lower vs. my OE stuff (I'll look when I get home be be 100% sure).

That one won't have the sweet "PB" insignia though

Re: Dropmember Competition ?? Have you guys seen this yet?
That will prob be 'replicated' as well but will have SD instead of PB . Dont worry though . . ....different font will be used so it doesn't infringe on the design .

I doubt they'll be able to market much cheaper than the Dropmember, if at all.

Re: Dropmember Competition ?? Have you guys seen this yet?
There was a post a little while back of this rear kit when it was in its development stages. There was a chassis in the background that had a Dropmember installed. I tried to find the old thread, but with no luck.
It's nice to know that my crossmember design was good enough for another manufacturer to mimic!

ok. so my thing is i love sd. they are great to the mini trucking world. they cater to the s10 market and are now expanding to the fullsize market. they offer some of the best products, and support the industry. they are always great to deal with and very knowledgable. that being said, i have no idea what was going through jasons head when he made this. i dont think he meant it as a knock off but as a new product. for all we know, it may be a little better then the og dropmemer. im not him so i cant speak for him. jason(sd) may have lost some of you guys as a market however he made a great business move by coming out with this product. he has more loyal customers than porterbuilt. it like comparing walmart to the local corner store. jason sells tons more product than many other air suspension supply places. he is a business trying to come out with another version of a product. competition is good. maybe this will inspire new products for our trucks. im not bashing porterbuilt in any way and im still buying from nate when i get started on my project. id rather go with someone that know c10's like the back of his hand rather than knowing s10's. i doubt the sd front will be priced well anyways. |

Re: Dropmember Competition ?? Have you guys seen this yet?
I agree, I have spent a lot of dollars with them, and referred a lot of people. I'll be spending mine somewhere else from now on. They could have at least made the effort to come up with their own design.

Re: Dropmember Competition ?? Have you guys seen this yet?
Looks like a nice setup to me- even if someone else did the leg work. Pretty cool if they incorporated a body drop too. I would be interested to know what it costs. That, and who can get a full kit to market will determine who goes down in history; remember Tesla/Edison, VHS/BetaMax...
They also have a step notch now for 67-72 trucks for $45 less than KP. He also says that a Thorbecke Brothers tubular arm is coming soon, so there's another(maybe cheaper) option for us. FWIW- I have a Dropmember and plan to buy another when the time comes.

A few years ago I did a lot of business with AIM ind. through their dealer support line Chassis tech. I personally had exceptional luck with them but I was aware of their reputation. My problem with them came along around the time that ART had developed their shockwave..... not soon after Chassistech put their own version on the market. As a matter of fact I still have the counter display for it in my garage. I KNEW what it was. A reverse engineed shockwave. Old Joe and company got sued by ART and well they were just different enough to be legal but it was still a copy in my mind. Then they did a knock off of the Suicide Doors road grater for S-10's ( My that's IRONIC) and legally was different enough but it was what it was plain and simple. My integity or something like that in my gut had a hard time selling cheap knock-offs like some guy in a trench hawking rolex copies. I started dealing with companies for their designs. I bought Suicide doors stuff from them, got my cal-combos from Bob Grant, and my shockwaves and arms from ART. Those people did the work and in my opinion deserve the pay-off. In the case of Thorbecke original designs even they deserve that right. Now to this instance. I don't care how you spin it I WILL NEVER believe that I'm not looking at a reverse engineered DropMember.... oh sure they may have their 10% to be legal but how did they feel when AIM legally ripped off their road grater? Nathan is a class act. Add to that the fact that he is basically carrying the load of dropmember products entirely on his own...... HE designed it.... he cut the steel... he welded it... he answers the phone calls... he types the e-mail.... He deserves to make it on his idea not watch somebody whose got a little better financing reverse engineer him and cut into his profits? At the end of the day it's still a free market and the only power i have is in my wallet. If I had money to invest I would be making Nate offers. As it is I have to save to invest one DM at a time. I have one front and one rear and I'm currently saving for another front at least. MY power is my money and ladies and gentlemen I agree with the sentiments previously stated. Not another dollar will go to SD even if it is cheaper. If I wanted cheap copies I'd wait for AIM. That concludes our broadcast day and now back to your regularly scheduled programming. This program will not repeat. josh

Re: Dropmember Competition ?? Have you guys seen this yet?
Don't matter how many people copy you. You still did it first, and for people in the know, we all know you did the work.
Suicide doors has always treated me great, but a friend owns a rival online setup so I deal with him instead. I definitely will avoid suicide doors after this because of them copying the dropmember. Awesomely enough, my buddy now is able to get the dropmember, him and I talked about it just today. Last edited by leftcoast66; 08-07-2008 at 01:39 AM. |

... and he blatantly copies other folks' ideas FOR PROFIT ... that may be harsh, as you put it, but that's EXACTLY what Joe Morrow does.
