dash question 65
I removed the steering column bolts and the four bolts on both sides of the dash and I am wondering is it supposed to come out and if so how? I am trying to fix some kobbled up stuff the po did and it would be ALOT easier if it were out on the ground.

Re: dash question 65
there is quite a bit more to do.
there should be the clamp by the fire wall. the shaft to the box bolts.. maybe ger some pics up. I remember it being alot harder than I thought it should be when I took my 63 apart. |

Re: dash question 65
you took off the bracket that holds the brake switch right? I can't remember if you HAVE to take that out, but I did. And i'm guessing the four bolts your referring to are for the the plate that holds the rubber piece that seals the firewall.
Like jonzcustomshop said, on the firewall below the mc (or behind the booster if you got one) there are three bolts that hold a bracket that the column is clamped too... plus the two rag joint nuts, and that should be it. You might have to mess with the shifter to get it in the right location so you can pull it through the hole. |

Theres two bolts on the drives side and two on the pass side under the dash and I can't remember how many around the column but I still can't move this thing. 65 chevy

Re: dash question 65
you are trying to remove the entire dash on your '65?
lots of spot welds at the bottom of the windshield like MailManX2 said.

Re: dash question 65
wow I missed that! I thought you were trying to remove the column...
yes, taking the dash out is quite involved. other than the bolts that you removed , it is welded in, and will need to be cut out. |

The windshield has to come out, which is a bigger deal to me. Luckily, (or not) my current windshield was already cracked.
