Got quite a bit done on the GMC

-
I've been thrashing pretty hard on the new '72 GMC the last few days. Got the tailgate on, and a lot of other stuff installed including backup & tail light assemblies, Marker lights, Grill with eyebrows, park/turn assemblies, door handles and locks, front bumper, cowl vent, all window channels & the door seal gaskets. I'm going to a swap meet tomorrow and pick up a few things I need to finish it up. Hopefully I will be driving it the middle of next week.... Things would go a lot faster if a guy didn't have to clean up and paint all of the little stuff before putting it on....

I notice looking at the pic of the rear I need to straighten the bumper up a little.

I'll put the hood on as soon as I finish painting the hinges.

Man, that is a nice looking GMC. Wish mine looked that good...

Is that the orginal tailgate or is it aftermarket?

Re: Got quite a bit done on the GMC

Thanks guys....

I got back from the swap meet at a decent time today so I installed some of the parts I picked up. I put the glove box liner in and got the glove box door back on, installed the rubber floor mat and the marker light gaskets. I started installing the plastic kick panels that came with the truck and the battery went dead on the drill so that ended that... (I needed to get ready to go out to eat tonight anyway) I spent $300 with a 67-72 parts vendor at the swap meet today so that made him happy. I also picked up a really nice pair of '72 door panels for 15 bucks. I needed them too.

72BlckButy: Any updates on the interior?
I will update interior pics tomorrow.

70cst: So Leon...what do you do in your spare time?
Sleep. I have been burning the midnight oil on this thing.

bobbo: Now if only I could get some work done on mine....you busy next week?
Yes, next week, the week after that & the week after that....

68gmsee: Is that the orginal tailgate or is it aftermarket?
That is the original tailgate.

what vendor had the '72 panels? I picked up a pair of 3 3/8" aftermarket tachs for $30, but nothing else.

It was a private individual that was just north and one row west of the food trailer he also had a pretty decent seat and a so-so drivers side fender... I didn't need either of those.

Thanks guys.

Msgross: As far as I know it's original style. It's the only one the vendor had. It fit good. The firewall has the original insulation on it.

Leon, that thing is going to look so good when it's complete. Is that a rubber floor?

Progress is progress, and you will rolling in that before you know.
