Where are you guys getting those kickin' wheels on your rides...
I want Boyd's Junk Yard Dogs or TT2's or maybe something from COYs. Where are the best deals??? Thanks, Kenny

Re: OK.. IT'S TIME for ... new wheels!
I think the best deal out there is the Coys. That said, I'm getting tired of seeing them.
Out of what you listed I would go with the Coddington's. Only because you won't have to run a spacer in the back to get the back spacing right. Also I like the finish on the Junkyard Dogs. If I were you, and was considering the purchase of the Boyd's, I would widen your search to Billet Specialties and also Intro. They are only a few hundred bucks more, and from what I've been told are much higher quality than what you get out of Boyd. I got my Intros from Sportruck.com. |

Re: OK.. IT'S TIME for ... new wheels!
What diameter wheels are you going to run ? Are you sticking with 18's so you can use your tires ? Also , are you looking for a staggered setup or the same size all around ? Boardmember Crush has a set of 20 inch TT2's at a good price if he hasnt sold them already .

Re: OK.. IT'S TIME for ... new wheels!
I just put a set of Billet Specialties 17" "Qualifiers" on my 84 with a new set of Nitto tires. The whole set ran me around $1800.00 Mounted and balanced. The wheels are out there.
I agree the use of the COYS has gone to the other end of the spectrum. Everyone has them. |

Re: OK.. IT'S TIME for ... new wheels!
no prob. Wheel bolt sizes get confusing, only reason i know that the mustangs have 5x4.5 is cause my draglites on my camaro have dual bolt pattern.

Re: OK.. IT'S TIME for ... new wheels!
I GOT A QUESTION, A BUDDY OF MINE GAVE ME 4 ORIGINAL RALLY WHEELS TO A 85 CHEVY, AND 2 RALLY WHEELS WHICH R ACTUALLY NOT AS WIDE AS THE OTHER 4. DO THE NARROWER ONES GO UP FRONT AND THE WIDER ONES GO OUT BACK?

Re: OK.. IT'S TIME for ... new wheels!
originally, they would of all 4 been the same size. Vans i believe had a wider wheel originally, and trucks had a narrower wheel, or you could order them wider or narrower too. Dont quote me though, im not 100% sure.

Re: OK.. IT'S TIME for ... new wheels!
Walts_restoration that's actually backward. Truck rally wheels are 8" and Vans were 7".

Re: OK.. IT'S TIME for ... new wheels!
oh really? For some reason i thought some vans came with wider wheels, so what came with the 6's? or did they make them.
all i know is i have 2 sets of 5 16x5.5 steelies in a 5x5 bolt pattern. Try finding them in a junkyard near you, lol.

Re: OK.. IT'S TIME for ... new wheels!
Let me check my memory . Vans had the narrowest wheels at 15x6.5 . Trucks could be had with either 15x7 or 15x8 Rallys . Most of the lower trim level trucks came with 15x7 and the upper trim levels usually had 15x8 wheels . I have some narrow ones as well as the 15x8 wider ones . I never really liked how far under the van rallys set on our trucks . If the truck is lowered heavily , then they look OK since they will tuck and still be able to turn . Sorry that your thread got jacked Kenny. Tell us what way you are leaning . I had my tires mounted today so I will hopefully have pics soon . It was dark when I got home . I have heard about some quality issues with Coddingtons but the ones I picked up look pretty nice . No real complaints except the location of the valve stems .

Here's a pic before I changed them along with the engine. Ken - I really like those wheels. I noticed they're not avail in 20's though. I'm warming up to the "Grey" centered wheels.. I'll see if one of the Photoshop gurus can put some on it for me to get a feel for the look.
