No power to dash, ignition, accessories - 1987 Suburban

Forgive me if the answer is posted elsewhere on herw but the search function does not like my PDA.

This morning I went out and it was about -25 degrees c outside. Went to start the Suburban and it turned and fired ran for 5 seconds and then I lost power to the dash and the engine died. Now I have no power to the ignition or dash power locks or rear window. All I seem to have is a working dome light and the horn and key buzzer works. I checked all the fuses under the dash, and the wires running to the starter I did not see any burned out wires and the fuses all tested good with my voltmeter. Is there any hidden fuses in the engine bay that I might be missing?

Any help would be great as I really need my truck for work.

small wire running from starter to fire wall junction just to the P/s of the brake master cylinder is a fuseible link wire it's most likely fried out. About 6-8 inches up from the starter cut it and replace it with another fusible link. That could vaery well be the source of your problem.

It might possibly be the plug between the steering column and the wiring harness, Real long ans skinny attached to the column. Might be coming apart I've had that happen once.
