Anyone race their truck?

i know that sounded like a dumb question but since this Is the suspension forum, does anyone race their truck at an open track or road course?
Silver state classic, Road America ect.

whats your setup if you do? I just want to see some trucks with more of a handling or high speed approach then a 1/4 mile bruiser...

We have using a number of different trucks and suspension set ups. What works best is really going to boil down to the truck you are wanting to do it on, what you are going to use it for and how much money you want to throw in it. Another good resorce would be to view the results from the Sportruck Shootouts too......

I would imagine you could dig up the info on Sportruck Magazine web site and I would bet your google tool bar works just as good as mine. If you cant find anything let me know and I will get with Calin and see where it is.....

what have people done with the 67-72 1/2ton pickup stuff? i see everyone swapping to camaro clips and rears but never upgrading whats there to begin with...

A friend of mine dirt tracks a 71 long bed (it was rusted beyond repair, and had been hit HARD in the front) We used afco springs and weight jacks for a mote carlo in the front, and afco GM metric rear springs with weight jacks in the rear. We made a track bar out of an afco modified piece with rod ends. We used an old 355 claimer motor out of an I-stock along with a direct drive power glide. It also has a 9 inch with 6.32 gears. Some times it seems it is set up fine, and other times it flat out wont move. Here's a track official chewing our butts at the IMCA nationals in Boone Iowa, that was a wasted trip.

If you check out what Jeff Schwartz did with an 82 Cad coupe deville(google it) much could apply to our trucks as the front susp is vey similar they share the same disc calipers and bearings etc. It would actually be interesting to see what all could work. The rear susp is already proven on nascar but with all the frame mods being done well whos to say Like was said, how much money ya wanna throw at it! But it opens up the possibilities of what we used to refer to as junk yard built they dont call em junk yards anymore "auto recyclers" like its some kinda designer word.But in this current state of affairs I think if were gunna play we will be doin a lot more JY fabbin.
