factory air question
i am about to buy a '72 burb, and i was just wondering:
did all factory air burbs have rear A/C? & i have seen a pic of one with an interior A/C unit running the length of the whole burb. is that stock, or did somebody fab that or get it off something else?

Re: factory air question
There were a number of AC configurations.. Roof air.. had it running the entire length of the roof... rear air.. and dual air.. dual air had both rear air and dash air...(like a pickup)

Re: factory air question
I believe that the rear a/c that ran the whole length was supplanted in '72 by the smaller rear unit. The period brochures tout "A two-unit air-conditioning system is new for '72." Looks like the front/rear setup w/ separate controls became available in the last year of production.
Be careful with the a/c unit as nearly 40 year old plastic gets a little fragile. Last edited by Beelzeburb; 01-21-2009 at 09:26 PM. |

Re: factory air question
When I had my 72 Suburban I remember looking at the rear AC unit thinking that it looked alot like the one in the 83 Sub I had a few years ago. I never compared the two so I don't know if they are infact the same.

Re: factory air question
'67-'71 burbs had the a/c that runs the length of the burb....'72s had the rear a/c that was real similiar to the '73+ burbs.
