Re: Frame Hole diagram
Here's a bump for you...
Just curious, any particular reason you want to weld up the holes in the frame? Did someone drill some and you're trying to get it back to the way it was? The reason I ask is because you normally don't see the frame. I have the bed off of my 69 and could possibly take some pics later this week if no one comes up with a diagram. |

Re: Frame Hole diagram
Trick would be mark the holes that aren't being used then disassemble and fill. Here's a frame dim but it really doesn't tell you the holes that are not being used.

Re: Frame Hole diagram
What happened was i disassembled the truck, can't remember everything about all of these holes. Some i do know. the reason its important for me is that my bed will be lexan and I want to fill in all unnecessary holes. Just conecrned about the the rear from the cab back. Thanks for the diagram, not sure if it will help me but i will see what i can do with it. I really need something that tells me what hole is for what.

Re: Frame Hole diagram
Thanks for offering to take the pics, i appreciate it! A lexan bed floor is like plexiglas but much much stronger! Like bullet proof glass or the windshields on nascar vehicles. the word "glass" is really not appropriate cause its really plastic, but clear as glass! i will be using it for my bed flor instead of wood. I plan to paint and chrome everything underneath in the rear, so i want the frame as clean as possible without the necessary holes. The frame has already been blasted.

Re: Frame Hole diagram
Damn sneakysnake, That was the image I was looking for when I saw this thread.
The only thing I know for sure and this is different throught the years are the oblong shaped holes are for manufacture alignment. - Let me see if I can source where I read that.. |

Re: Frame Hole diagram
Usually you can tell by the marks from bolts, washers and brackets which holes are in use on your truck. That's if you haven't already ground down or sandblasted the frame.
If your truck is already spread all over the shop the options would be to preassemble it and mark the holes you won't be using or take a serous look under a similar truck and see what holes are in use. |

Re: Frame Hole diagram
Hope these help you. I have highlighted the holes that are used by the bed and the spare tire holder. The rest on top pretty much are extras. On the sides I took some pics but unless you have removed brackets for the shocks, the rubber bumpers, etc. those hole are extra too.
I have a few more pics if you need them. |
