Re: And you thought your truck was rare!!!!!!
Wheelbase looks incorrect.
I seen one in Durango with 3 doors. Never seen one like it before. Cool find!

Re: And you thought your truck was rare!!!!!!
Stretching for passenger coaches (Stageway Coaches Inc.), sleeper cabs and crew cab conversions (Automotive Industries Incorporated), sleeper cabs (The D.E.K. Manuafacturing Company), crew cabs (Crown Steel Products Co.), ambulance conversions (Franklin Body & Equipment Corp.), (Automotive Conversion Corporation) and (The Challenger Corporation) were all services provided by these companies on behalf of the dealers and the vehicles could be ordered at the dealership level with these modifications completed.
This information is from the 1964, 1965 and 1966 Silver Books, provided by General Motors corporate office, to the Chevy dealerships and was entitled "ENGINEERED VOCATIONAL EQUIPMENT FOR CHEVROLET TRUCKS". They are an excellent source of information and are available on eBay, from time-to-time, from individuals. I have one for each year and use them frequently as reference guides for factory/manufacturer/dealer options available on this era of trucks. Last edited by LILRED66; 02-03-2009 at 11:09 AM. |

Re: And you thought your truck was rare!!!!!!
I read that and think like it all rambled together
but maybe im just a bit Looks like someone just put it together..At least make it and leave the steps on it and make the wheel base look like it belongs |

Re: And you thought your truck was rare!!!!!!
My only question is, whats the point in making a step side version that doesn't...have a step...on the side?
Its different I guess, but it doesn't make it a cool truck to me. This one just looks damned goofy. |

Re: And you thought your truck was rare!!!!!!
that is just the way they turned out from the coach builders using the original chassis without lengthening them....
they did the same thing with the fleet too, and they didn't look much better |

Here's mine. I had to take a second look because the one you posted at the top looks just like it!!!!
The rear axle is snugged up next to the cab on mine as well. |
