Questions on installing a 4l60e tranny????

A friend is selling me a 4l60e tranny that is complete out of a 2003 GMC Sierra.
What would I need to make it work in my 68 Chevy truck with 350 engine? Since my truck does not have all the electronics and computer. Do I have to buy a certain harness? Thanks

Yes, and a stand alone computer to go with it let me know if you find a solution for under $1100.00 can you say Compu-shift
The rear transmission mount will be the easier part!!

gotta agree with solidaxel, your better off with a 700R4 if your not going with a computer controlled / injected LSX motor.

Looks like I will be selling the 4l60e tranny. And sticking with the 350trans.

Even if you pieced together a factory harness, you would still need a TPS-Temp sensor-Tach and other inputs plus a custom tune on a factory PCM. I would still stick with an overdrive trans. 700R4 or a built 200R4.

Re: Questions on installing a 4l60e tranny????

With the proceeds from the 4L60E, go buy a 700R4. There's lots of people specifically looking for the 4L60E to replace the existing one in their car or truck. I have found recently that due to the tough economic times, many guys are selling off their parts, and I have seen lots of good 700R4s for sale. I just picked up a 700 (1991 model) that had a stock rebuild with about 2500 miles on it with a new convertor, TV cable, and cast aluminum torque convertor cover for $400. The guy had it in his V8 Vega, and he was converting the car to a manual trans. I installed it two weeks ago, and it works flawlessly.

The deals are out there. I have had great luck with Craigslist.
