Did GM Make A Factory High Rise Intake?
I'am yanking the rebuilt 305 out of my 85 shortwide.. I was noticing the intake... Its a factory high rise, is this correct? I have a stock 350 intake and the one on my 305 is noticably higher... are these a rare find? It's got the GM stamp on it... anyways im pulling it out for a bigger/beefier motor but that just had me stumped! Is there a way to run the casting numbers from intakes?

Re: Did GM Make A Factory High Rise Intake?
I've seen them for big blocks - never seen them for small blocks. Doesn't mean they aren't out there, though.

Re: Did GM Make A Factory High Rise Intake?
old z28 intakes from 302 camaro's were taller than all the non seperated runner duel planes out today. same intaje the holley street dominators were modeled after. (over a 1/2" taller than the ede rpms)
many 305 intakes in the 80's that were aluminum but not much of a high rise. they are total garbage as far as performance is concerned. if its a speadbore pattern carb mount (q-jet) its not worth much except for scrap. came on many of the trucks and monte's the new gm zz's come with a factory highrise on them. |
