Re: camaro clip....its been a lone time
it gives you a good idea on what needs to be done, but it is far from step by step.

Re: camaro clip....its been a lone time
It is a shame that video is not updated and more detailed. There are several key issues it does not address very well.
It would be a great help to the hobby if they or someone else refined this process. |

Re: camaro clip....its been a lone time
When I did my 56 I layed the sub under my frame ,1st bolted it in place then welded and boxed it. This way my motor and tranny mounts were right on. Also might want to think about moving the clip foward to center thr front wheels.

Re: camaro clip....its been a lone time
One one my buddies just hung another one of those stubs (actually a trans am) under a similar truck.
Here are some photos that I posted before. http://s173.photobucket.com/albums/w...pu%20subframe/ I've had two vehicles that were subframed. My 48 and the 51 Merc coupe that I owned for 32 years. This I can offer. Find out the stock ride height of the model of car the subframe came out of and set the crossmember at that height. This usually takes crawling under a friends Camaro and measuring from the bottom of the crossmember to the ground. Make sure it is a stock height car. You want to block the subframe up at that height with the ends of the subframe rails level with the floor. When my autoshop students and I did my 51 Merc we set the car at the exact static height I wanted to run it by making wood blocks to place under the frame. We set the frame rails level front to rear. At this time any rake isn't important but you want the stub to be square and level with the stock frame. All else I can say is measure, measure, measure and make serious use of your level.
