different headers that fit?

i remember reading awhile back that headers from chevelles, or maybe camaros will fit our trucks (i think), has anyone actually used a set of these?

any ceramic coated part numbers that will "definitely" fit?

i'm lowering my truck right now, and the headman elites that are on it now, the flanges are going to be too low it looks like

Re: different headers that fit?

Same here.

I know Dynomax fit like crap, I switched to Hedman, they fit great.

I'd like ot get a set of Hooker's when I redo my truck next few months but I'm too cheap so I'm reusing the Hedman's.

Re: different headers that fit?

Is there a cheaper alternative to the hedman 68606? Still looking at coated though. Maybe Jegs 30051? Just curious on others.

Re: different headers that fit?

Any custom exhaust shops in your area? Don't know how much they'd charge but you'd be able to get a pair that fit right.

Re: different headers that fit?

If you want good headers, then buy a good set.

Usually, the cheaper brands use thinner flanges where it mounts to the heads or they aren't uniformely flat and you'll end up getting leaks.

Re: different headers that fit?

Another option would be to get a set & get them ceramic coated. We have a few shops out here that will do it in an out for fairly reasonable. Something to look at anyway.

Re: different headers that fit?

I used some headers for a 88-98 chevy truck. It works ok. and they were cheap on ebay. They are "stainless" I wouldn't call them the best in the world but they do work.

The only issue I had was on the driver side. I had to trim alittle spot on the lower portion of the frame rail and move the shifter rod that goes from the column to the lever at the trans. Here is a link they were like this but I found them cheaper at the time.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEVY...3A1|240%3A1318

I used these cause I wanted to keep things away from the ground as much as possible. There are some pics in my build thread. "OrangeAnimal"

Re: different headers that fit?

I'm running same jet-hot coated chevelle headers from eBay. $185 and they seem to fit pretty well, just need a tight bend right after the collector if you're laying frame. Here's a link to the exact ones I have on the 'bay:

well, the steering is on the other side of the frame, so that won't be an issue. I haven't had the cab on since I put them on, but I don't see how they could possibly hit it.

Re: different headers that fit?

hooker makes full length chevelle headers that are perfect. I ordered a set in stainless for $500. Here is what the ceramic looks like. Didn't get the stainless set on yet but they are the same part number, just stainless!

Checkout my webshots page. I have 3/4 length Chevelle headers on my truck. The headers are great for lowered trucks.
