Box lengths

I'm looking to change from a LWB fleetside to a LWB stepside. I have a 63. I was recently told that a 55-57 box is different in length compared to 58-66. Is this true ??
I'm aware that how it bolts to the frame is different (frame widths) so it's just the overall length I'm concerned about as i don't want to find after I've found a box that it is shorter.
THX,
Doug

Re: Box lengths

The '55-'66 swb stepside beds are the same length and '55-'66 lwb stepside beds are the same length, per my understanding of the manufacturer's literature.

You may try posting over on the '47-'59 forum, as well. Good luck with your project.

Re: Box lengths

Thanks for that reply.... I've just received an update that informed me that the box length is the same but what I have to look out for is that the wheelbase was different from the 55-57 to the 58-66 so the steps would be shorter and the fenders are in a different spot on the box.
Anyone else that can confirm this please chime in.
THX, Doug

Re: Box lengths

I've got 49, 57, and 67 step side SWB beds..... I believe they are all the same length.

Re: Box lengths

Oops! I didnt read that you meant LWB beds.... Don't have experience with those. Just have someone with a long bed step 60-66 measure for ya.....

Re: Box lengths

In the mid to late 50's there was a 7' 6" stepside bed available. Didn't know that till I owned one.
