Dist gear/oil pump gear
Hi again, i would like to know what way do i turn the oil pump gear, clock or
or counter? This seems the only way to solve the timing prob. also does it matter if the #1 plug is at 530 or 630 o'clock on the dist. Thanks in advance. frankyjoe |

Re: Dist gear/oil pump gear
you can turn the oil drive shaft with a long flatbladed screwdriver

Re: Dist gear/oil pump gear
The simplest way to do this is to just stab the distributor where it needs to be. If it "hangs up" because it is missing the oil pump drive, just turn the engine slowly and it will "drop" into place (when it lines up) because the oil pump doesn't turn until it does. It works every time. You can turn it by hand or use a remote starter button.
