ok i have asked this before but...
I am still a little unclear. I have a 76 c10 and i need new doors. I do want power locks and windows. SHould I buy an aftermarket kit or just get some doors off of a later model chevy truck that already has pw locks and windows and then just wire them up? what would be the best year to buy that has pwr windows and locks but is the closest esthetically to the 76 door? Thanks. JW

Re: ok i have asked this before but...
factory PW/PL will not fit in 76 doors...that is why they (GM) redid the doors in 77.
You could try aftermarket kits, but I have no experience with any of them.

Re: ok i have asked this before but...
Doors off a newer truck with power windows and doors will bolt right on the only difference being is the newer style door panels so if thats not an issue go for it

Re: ok i have asked this before but...
Sorry, misread your question.
Pick up 88-91 Suburban or Blazer PW/PL doors...they were all almost power equipped, heck, you might even get lucky and get some with power mirrors. They look identical on the outside, but the door panels are different and won't exactly match your 76 interior. You easily remedy that by installing an 81+ dash pad too. Another benefit of the newer doors, newer and hopefully less worn parts...seals too.

Any 88-91 Suburban or Blazer front doors will work.

Re: ok i have asked this before but...
The only prob your going to have is the wiring harness. The 76 won't have accommodations for the sub harness to plug in to. You might be able to acquire that from the donor, but get EVERYTHING if you do. There will be several pluags that are different from your truck.

Re: ok i have asked this before but...
so there are aftermarket kits for power windows and power locks. Would it be easier to go that route?

Re: ok i have asked this before but...
The only thing is if you have to buy repair parts the factory doors would be easier to find stuff for.lock motors and window motors
