trailing arm/ leaf spring delema
i have a 70 c20 with trailing arms. thinking about picking up a 73 c10 for the suspension that i need (5lug / discs, ect) i found out its a leaf spring rear end. im tired of struggling trying to find one doner rig to steal what i need off of. anyone ever taken a leaf spring rear end and fitted it for trailing arms. how tough would it be if i did? thanks for the info.

Re: trailing arm/ leaf spring delema
wouldnt be hard at all.............Measure everything out. Figure out the pinion angle and cut the brackets off the old axle. Weld em on the new one.

Re: trailing arm/ leaf spring delema
It would be a simple matter of cleaning the old perches off your axle and welding on the new 2-link perches. I'm pretty sure one of the verdors offers off the shelf perches made for doing just this kind of thing. only tick would be setting pinion and making sure the perches are centered. Not to bad , really

Re: trailing arm/ leaf spring delema
That's what I did. I got a '73 rear end, cut the brackets off, got new mounts from ECE, centered and set the pinion angle to match my '68 rear end, welded everything up. I wasn't worried about having a stock track bar mount on the rear end, since I was using the ECE adjustable one and it mounts to the trailing arm/axle mount. Check my build link for pics.

Re: trailing arm/ leaf spring delema
thanks for the help, makes me less worried about this investment. so ill just order the brackets.
is it possible i may run into drive shaft leangth issues with putting the 1/2ton rear end in it. if so should i just use the back half of the 73 lwb drive shaft?
