swapping from 8 to 5 lug

hey guys i just picked up a 72 parts truck for a hundred bucks from some guy. the truck has a 5 lug set up on it with a 3.73 12 bolt posi and 5 lug front spindles. i was thinking about swapping all this into my truck which is a 72 c20 so it has 8 lug all the way around the front spindles and stuff should swap right in but the rear on the parts truck is a leaf sprung rear and my 8 lugger has the coil overs. if i take the spring mounts off the parts truck can i pull some measurements, drill holes and bolt them up to my frame to use the rear and stuff?

Re: swapping from 8 to 5 lug

I don't know if the frame on a C-20 has the holes already there, but it should bolt up. The earlier trucks (67-69?) had a narrower rear axle, but your going from 72 to 72 so it should be the same.

Sorry, but all I can do is guess. Anyone else know a firm answer?

Re: swapping from 8 to 5 lug

I would think the rear leaf's would swap out easy, but the front rotor's aren't going to fit your 3/4 ton spindel's.
