47-53 dashes

Looking for some pictures of customized 47-53 dashes. Not wanting to copy anyone's work, just want to see what everyone has done. Im not 100% sure on what I want to do, so far my plan is: weld up the holes for the radio and weld in a filler panel where the center speaker cover/grill and ash tray was. So far Im keeping the glove box for storage reasons. Basically any holes not used will get filled. Another thing I was thinking of, since I have two 5" gauges (1 speedometer and 1 tachometer) in the stock gauge locations, I was going to mount my 4 smaller 2-1/8" gauges at a angle towards the driver were I weld in the speaker grill filler panel.

Then do I either paint the dash or cover it in vinyl...

Re: 47-53 dashes

I bought a dash for a 47 Chevy car with the intentions of putting it in my truck. Never installed it though.
Same era, and if its done well I think a lot of people would just assume it came that way.

Re: 47-53 dashes

this is mine it is a fiberglass cover that goes over the existing dash from verdine performance. way less work than welding in fillers.

I was looking at that, Im working on purchasing some fiberglass front fenders from them at the moment. Bought 1, working on buying the other.

How does it attach to the stock dash?

you can screw it or bond it to the original dash. it fits the odash like a glove. I will probably bond mine on. I also bought the 3 inch wider rear fenders from them.
