Swapping 4.56 for 3.73 ratios
Hi all!
I'm looking to increase my top end on my M1031 by swapping the ratios (45mph in TX bites w/the Mexicans doing 70+). I know I need the carrier bearing (front & rear) as well as the gears themselves. What other parts do I need to swap? Thanks in advance. Me. Last edited by M1031; 06-06-2009 at 11:09 AM. Reason: Forgot details |

Get an install kit front and rear. Will have everything you need, minus R&P. Might have to but additional shims to get preload correct.

Have 3.55 carrier for a Dana 60, depending on your rear diff depends if to need a carrier swap. Carrier breaks are typically 4.10/4.56
