Disc brake drag....
How much brake drag is acceptable for disc brakes? I know there has to be some, but how much?
Ever since I converted to discs it seems as if I get excessive brake dust. I even tried ceramic pads to help with the dust problem. This did help, but it still seems like I get too much. |

Re: Disc brake drag....
clean your calipers maybe. If you have too much junk the pistons wont retract enough.
but if I spin the rotor it wont make a full turn before it stops. |

Re: Disc brake drag....
disc brakes do not require the same amount of "drag" as a drum system due to the caliper having more hydraulic cylinder "travel" versus the smaller wheel cylinders on a drum system.

Re: Disc brake drag....
Hey Royo, when you say 2 lbs on disk and 10 or more on drums are you referring to foot pounds? What is the best way to measure that?

Re: Disc brake drag....
I think he is referring to residual line pressure.

Re: Disc brake drag....
oh ok. I thought he was talking about the amount of drag you should have when adjusting brakes.
