New parking brake install

Is there a trick to installing new cables? I have them done at the drums now I am trying to put the pins in where they connect at the lever and well the tension is too great and I cant get the second pin in. Is there a trick to doing this?

The cable that comes from the handle in the cab has a sorta long threaded end on it with nuts on either side of that bracket. Try loosening those nuts and backing the one nut out so that the bracket on that cable is closer to the end. That should give you some more 'slack' so you can hook up the other cable from the drum. Then adjust the front cable to take up the excess.

Re: New parking brake install

Thanks! Sorry for the short post earlier, I was getting frustrated, the bottom of my truck is covered in years and years of layers and layers of grime so I was filthy up to my neck all just to have my cable not get connected. Plus I had bought a new SS hose for my rear brakes from the local speed shop here and when I went to bleed my brakes it leaked like a siff, only to fit out that one of the adapters they put with it was for washer type of seal and not a flare seal so now I have to wait till Monday to get it exchanged. Translation half day and no progress lol. Oh well still better then golf (not meant to offend anyone ;-)

Thanks for that help John, it took like 5 minutes now. Once I crawled underneath I had my "duhh why didn't I even think of that" moment.
