Got Another truck...Crewcab dually 4x4

Just wanted to show off the new addition.

Well with three kids (just had twins) and the wife the regular cab is no longer big enough. We have been looking for months for something that was halfway clean. Also, wanted something that would haul a slide-in camper or pull a trailer so we could take the kids camping. We are very happy with what we found. It's a 1989 454 th400 4x4. 2.5" lift in front air bags in back with stock size wheels/tires. 5th wheel set up and slide-in camper mounts. k&N air filter, Jet Performance 6 way chip, high flow cats w/ dual exhaust and rv cam.

Best part, the wife said she really likes it (she usually isn't a big fan of older trucks)!!!

Ya, its amazing how many trucks we looked at that were 'beat down' but still chugging away. They were definately work horses back in their hay-day.

What do ya mean back in their hay-day? they are still kicking ass and taking names!

I love your truck, my ole man had an 83 that was that color on the base, then had a royal blue stripe, although his was a 4 speed. Really wish I had that truck, but he sold it, and the people who bought it destroyed it.

What are your plans for it?

Mr. Beast,
I hope it keeps kicking ass!!! The previous owner used / built it to tow a 5th wheel. I plan on pulling a camping trailer and making a lot of good memories with my kids in a neat old truck the way my parents did for me in their 76 square body...

Driveway,
Funny you call it a family hauler... I was just telling my wife I am going to get a license plate frame that says "Family TRUCKster". Anybody who remembers the original Vacation movie will know I stole the title.

Let me poision you with some good thoughts, using it for family use you can easily ditch the TH400 for a 4L80E and get over drive, Advance Adapters sells a kit that makes the back of the 4L80E exactly the same as your TH400, and thus makes it all bolt up nice and purdy!

Also, I converted my 85 from a TH400 to a NV4500, mine is a 2wd through and because of that I had to modify my transmission hump quite a bit to get it to clear the gear box, you wouldn't have to.

I have all the necessary parts and pieces to make mine a 4x4 including the DRW Dana 60, but I think it is going to stay a 2wd. It is getting a Cummins soonish though.

You need to take yours out, hook it up to the camper, break out the camera and supply us all with some truck porn!

Really good looking ol' truck. I like the blue on it. It kinda reminds me of Paul Bunyan's ox, Babe.
That will be my next truck. A perfect family hauler.

Nice truck.

You'll love the reliability of the TBI.

Thought I'd add that if you want more power over the JET chip you could go with a custom chip from Brian at www.tbichips.com
