Seat covers

I'm ready to order a seat cover for the '60 bench seat. Can anyone with experiance in buying the pre-made covers drop a comment. The prices seem to be all the same $189.00. But I'd like the pros and cons if I go this route.

I'll probally find a shop to put the cover on for me, but if you guys and gals say it's easy, I might give it a go. Hel I can always bring it to a shop.

I looked over the BB but did not find a topic on "Interiors", maybe we should add one? Or did I miss it?

Somebody had the black and white one from one of the catalogs and it looked great. They are pretty easy to put on too. I think the covers come with hog rings and pliers. Its just a matter of pulling it tight and squeezing the hog rings together around the springs on the back and bottom. Maybe somebody will throw up the link with the truck with the black and white seat cover.

check out marathon . i have them on my truck and really like them. only took about an hour to put on.

Here is the article that I read before I did mine. Although the article is more in depth because they make up the cover as well, it had a lot of interesting info on repairing the frame and foam that I found useful.

I got mine @ http://www.ricksupholstery.com/ - he has pics of it on his web site -it is listed as a 61 but is a 65, black stepside. I've been very happy with the quality and still looks new after 2.5 years of use.

I got mine from LMC. It came in a box rolled up, so it helps to let it lay flat for a few hours in a warm area prior to working with it. Like someone said previously, its just a matter of laying it over the foam, centering it to your liking, and then working your way around with the hog rings and pliers. I found it good to have an extra set of rings. LMC sells a set of rings and pliers. It turned out to be good because the "cheap" pliers broke while working on the lower seat cushion. Anyway, once its laid out I started in the middle top and bottom and worked my way to the edges. Its easier to stretch the covers from the middle to the sides to keep it centered. When you stretch it, its good to compress the foam and springs some so you're not fighting friction as much. Its also nice to have an inch or so of fabric over the support wire before you clamp it so you can get fabric on each side of the support wire.
Here's a few pictures of mine . I found it easy to work on the bottom one first because the frame will make it easier for you to get the hang of laying out the cover and securing it.

I ordered the Grey and White two tone set from LMC this morning along with Pliars and Hog Ring kit. Not too bad only $225.00 with shipping. The seat I have has good support, just the wrong color. I set up a photo album as usual.

Not sure how to post a link to my thread. But i used the same kit you just ordered. It was real easy to install, the only tip i have for you is let the cover sit in the sun for a little bit. Makes it so much easyer to work with.
