Re: best drop spindle
It really depends on what criteria makes you feel something is "best". My personal preference is DJM. I don't know that they are better than any of the other companies out there. What I do know is they make a very good quality 3" spindle that is usually a better price than most others.
So my vote would be DJM is best.

Re: best drop spindle
Well there are several available... but off the top of my head:
- ECE offers a 2.5" drop spindle - CPP offers a 2.5" drop spindle - CPP also offers a modular drop spindle (pulls the front end closer together than a standard drop spindle, but requires the larger brake upgrade) - Several board vendors (Tim Christian,..) offer drop spindles - AirRide Technologies offers a drop spindle as well You can also update your front suspension to accept a 73-87 style spindle, but you will be required to upgrade your balljoints and a few other pieces. These drop spindles are generally a 3" drop. All in all the drop spindles are pretty well the same across the board, it just depends on the company, the amount of customer service you receive, and the price.

I'm swapping out my ECE drop spindles for these because of tire clearance problems and I'll be making a custom bracket to mount up some LS1 camaro dual piston aluminum calipers. |

Re: best drop spindle
I have always thought BellTech had the best quality, but highest price.
McGaughy's makes a drop spindle that's probably the best bang for the buck.

Re: best drop spindle
In the end you also have to consider the customer service factor. I have not ordered a product from McGaughy's, so I can't speak from experience, but from ECE I can. Stan/Mark and the rest of the crew at ECE are stand up and are always there to lend a helping hand.
Just my $.02...

Re: best drop spindle
I agree, service is important. I don't think McGaughys sells direct, so it would be on the dealer for service. We all know that Porterbuilt offers excellent service, so you might ask him about his prices...

I'd say that all front springs are about the same, so my final decision would rely on the place I purchased my drop spindles. If that be Porterbuilt, ECE, McGaughy's.... I'd just order them at the same time and save a little shipping $$$.

Re: best drop spindle
I've never heard any complaints about the fitment or customer service received from ECE...I can't say that for any other manufacturer. (Not throwing rocks at Nathan or Tim as they do not manufacture spindles or springs, both are stand up guys)
Check out the review forum and I'm sure you'll find some bad reviews of some other brands as well as complaints about customer service. |

Re: best drop spindle
McGaughy's by far. But I am a little bias.
They make a 2.5" drop spindles for 60-87 Chevy/GMC trucks. |

Re: best drop spindle
I have CPP 2.5" dropped spidles in the front of my truck. They are manufactured by Western Suspension (Made in USA) Went on with no problems, so these are the ones I would recommend

Re: best drop spindle
I got my Mc Gaughys from GMCPaul a few years ago never had a problem with them. I am however contemplating the modular ones from CPP just because of the extra tire clearance. LIke said above it slightly narrows your track width, my swap was on my 68.
good luck Dave

Re: best drop spindle
my clearance is minimal only during a "dip" in the road. My tires are 275-60-15 I cant see where it has scrapped as it is very minimal but I believe it might be a bolt head or just the outer edge of the inner fender. The only drop I have is from the spindles I am using stock springs.

Re: best drop spindle
If i remember right my tires are 255/40/20 on 20x8.5 wheels with 4.25" BS. When it is fully aired out the inner fenders are sitting on the tires. Hopefully the modular CPP spindles will pull them in enough that this isn't an issue.
