Re: fast 4x4

I first saw that a couple of days ago.....wasn't sure what body it had with the crappy monitor at the shop. Looks like a square body now.

The owner of that truck received quite a bit of crap on his truck over on yellowbullet.com. I think it's pretty cool myself and can't wait to see more of it. Hopefully they'll have a better quality vid next time.

Re: fast 4x4

I saw several newer Chevy's go down the track in 4wd. Maybe he's running some kind of newer/upgraded 4X4 drivetrain.

Re: fast 4x4

I'll guarentee you he's not running any kind of stock anything. To be running outlaw 10.5 the motor is making somewhere north of 2500HP and would shread any GM part in a half a heartbeat.

Yeah, I wasn't insinuating it was stock, just wondering if it's total aftermarket, or some kind of upgraded newer diesel stuff or something.

In one of his posts over on yellowbullet.com he mentioned he's running a custom one off transfer case. I didn't read the whole thread to see what else he is running.

Re: fast 4x4

I saw the truck and talked to Bobby the owner when it was here in Montgomery. They were killing u joints then but hopefully have that fixed. Its a pretty awesome ride. The transfer case is supposed to be rated for 30k horsepower. Its made for tractor pullers with several motors.

Re: fast 4x4

Wow! What a wild ride. That second vid shows how much power he really has.

Question or two? When he backs up and moves over his spotter sprays something in the scoop. I have never seen that once the motor is running. What was he spraying?

One more? After he staged his spotter went to the back of the truck and flipped a switch. What was that for?

On a blown alcohol motor, a lubricant is sometimes sprayed on the butterfly's/linkage entering the scoop to keep things from binding up. Alcohol dries things up something terrible, the lube (probably a teflon based spray) keeps things moving.

The switch on the back on is to turn on a data recorder. It will monitor engine RPM, driveshaft RPM, wheel speed, EGT, water temp, fuel PSI, etc.

Re: fast 4x4

I thought it might be something like that because he sprayed it rather random. I know the blowers ice up from the intake temp change as they make a pass, but didn't think about the drying effect that alcohol has.

I thought the driver usually turned the data recorder on. I guess I have never seen the spotter do it.

Re: fast 4x4

I wonder how quick you could make a 203 or 205 transfer case truck before the stock transfer case parts started to fail?
