Painless Wiring - Wiper Switch
Hey Guys,
Need some help with wiring in a factory 78 harness clip to the Painless wiring. I've taken a few snapshots in high res that may help. In the painless wiring harness, because there are different switches with different pigtails, they have left just the wires and you need to use your old pigtail. I have an intermittent wiper and module and my original pigtail from my 78 harness. The pigtail is labeled A-F with six wires: A = Gray B = Blk/LT Blue C = Blk/Wht D = LT Blu E = Black F = DK Blue (Dark Blue) This corresponds with the GM wiring diagram I have for 78 Light Duty Trucks. What doesn't correspond, is where these wires connect to what on the wiper wires for the painless kit. The wiper wires are isolated, but I can't figure out what goes to what. Here are some pics: This first pic is the actual pigtail. It is position to correspond with the A-F description above, going from left to right. This next pic is the actual wiring diagram from the GM Wiring Diagram Book for 78 Light Duty Trucks: From those two pics, everything matches. The wire colors on the pigtail match to the wires in the GM Wiring diagram and show where they lead to. Next up is diagram from the Painless Wiring Manual: I'm electrically challenged when it comes to reading wiring diagrams. Fortunately, the painless kit is pretty straight forward, but there are a few pigtails that have to be used from the original harness and it lacks instructions that say "blk on the pigtail" goes to "pink in the painless wiring harness" I'm hoping someone with a better understanding of these can look at them and help out with something like "gray pigtail goes to white harness" and so on. Spent the last few hours pulling hairs out, need to head over to Walmart and pick up some Rogaine!!!
