Re: 2.5 power tricks

Have you removed the emission stuff? You probably don't need a mechanical fan. Install an electric fan with a manual switch. Advance the timing a few degrees. Go up until it pings then go back 1-2 degrees. Improve the air intake system. You can cut remove and reroute the air ducting.
Post a picture of the engine bay.

Re: 2.5 power tricks

I have the newer 2.2L and I added an electric fan, removed the heavy clutch fan, added a cold air intake, and bought a bored out throttle body (went from factory 52mm to 57mm) and it woke up my 2.2L a good bit.

Can you shave some weight? Just a couple hundred pounds will make a big difference. Remove all interior, remove/replace glass, cut out bed floor, etc??? Well, maybe cutting the bed floor would be bad, they're light enough in the ass as it is...

Re: 2.5 power tricks

while in competetion are you at wide open throttle? if not you could make the ECM think the engine is colder and/or is breathing colder air by altering the signals recieved by the ECM.
I had an 88 grand am 2.5 that I used to smoke the Honda guys with. granted I had a cam and a shaved head but the trick tuning made the biggest gains. I also had to run 93 octane gas once I eliminated the EGR.
