built a new engine,,new times

Never fast enuf. I pulled out my 6.0L that I finally got to 11.80's. Found a deal on a blown up 6.2 escalade engine. I got a rotating asembly to make it a 418 and used the cnc ported L92 and cam from tsp.

I got it running on monday and drove it around a few days to make sure everything was fine. Track time friday night was impressive, I still need to do some tuning and fine tune the takeoff and shift points.

Best time friday
1.63 60ft
7.03 at 97 1/8 mile
11.16 at 117 1/4.

This is still fun to drive around town and has good street manners.

Re: built a new engine,,new times

Congrats!! I think you took the #1 spot on this site for the fastest Gen3/4 motor on the site. You got me by .02 and 2 mph.. But, don't get used to it, I've lost 300+ lbs and probably picked up 20-30hp along with a drastic gear change. You might beat me in to the 10's as well. but I'll be working for that #1 spot next time at the track!!

Was the 6.0 a factory shortblock? What are you doing with it?

Those are some nice #s!
Would you care to share any more info on your combo? I'm thinking that my next project engine will be an LS-based engine, and I would like to learn as much about these as I can.
Again, congrats on the good numbers!!

Not really a whole lot to it. 6.2L with 418 rotating assembly, 11.1 cr, cnc ported l92, custom hydralic roller from texas speed (don't remember specs exactly 650/660 lift 240/250 @ 50),, proform 950, turbo 400, ptc 3600 convertor, 4.10 gears, 315/60/15 drag radials.

I was sure happy with the times. What do you think it would do with a 100 shot on it.

The 6.0 was a factory shortblock except with arp rod bolts and cam. I am thinking about selling it to recoupe some the expense of the new engine.

We are going back to the track weekend after next maybe it will get a high 10 this time.

Re: built a new engine,,new times

nice combo. still amazing how much power a well planned LS can make.

i would guess a 100shot to pick you up 6-7 tenths if you hit it out of the gate

I got it down to 10.90's at 119 on motor. The 100 shot got me a 10.50 at 125, but I didn't hit it untill after the 60ft. You are probably right though, I was guessing 6 tenths.

Very nice! Must have some nice 60ft's, that's a good ET for 119mph!

Re: built a new engine,,new times

Thanks guys.
It gets decent 60fts. 1.56-7.
I wish it got as good as my friends 72 truck. I built him a 406 and it 60fts like crazy (1.49-51) but runs 11.30-40's at 113. It is also stock suspension but we are fighting wheel hop at the track. It breaks gears and posi too much.

Re: built a new engine,,new times

Another reason to Build a coil over valve cover engine. That thing has to put out around 650-700 HP. With a hyd. roller even. Unless the truck weighs 3-3200lbs
Congrats on the ET and other times. Those Ls based engines sound so evil running down the track.

Re: built a new engine,,new times

subbing!!
I am taking my 6.0 swapped 71 on 3/20 to local 1/8th mile to see what it does. Not expecting too much on street tires but it will be fun. Going to have 3.73/posi unit installed before then.

If there are not pictures in this thread I would like to see some, can not see much on the network I am currently on....

BUT, is there a Gen3/4 1/4 mile list??? I like seeing the list and shooting for spots....already did the bolt on LT1 in a 97Z28 (11.80 @ 113+) and I think it would be fun to see where I can take this old truck without loosing my mind HA!!

Re: built a new engine,,new times

Your truck is just awesome man. I hope I can get mine to run as good as yours soon. I have a combo pretty close to your old one, but my truck is a complete turd so far. I'm so disappointed with my combo that I'm now considering parting it out and starting over with a different truck and a BBC. I'm looking for low 11's but with the way it ran the last few times I drove it, I'd be lucky to run in the 14's. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing a video of your truck.
