Re: got a light?
Low beam = top lights
High beams = all 4 lights

Re: got a light?
it seems to have been said a few times, and i hope i dont seem like an ass, but when u have your lows on, just the top two work, when you have highs on all four turn on, meaning when you switch to high beams your tops can still be on even if the bottoms are burned out

Re: got a light?
The top lights are doing exactly what they are made to do...

Re: got a light?
oh.
so the top should work as high/low and the bottoms should come on only when the highs are on?

Re: got a light?
Yeah, the upper light fixture has 2 elements in it...1 for low beam and 1 for high beam. The fixture has 3 electrical posts on it where the high beam fixture will only have 2 electrical posts because it only has 1 light element in it. On high beam the secondary filament in the upper fixture illuminates as does the single filament in the lower fixture.
Sounds like you have just got 2 burned out lower fixtures. I would get a test light and check power at the lower light plug before buying new lights though, as they probably won't be returnable if the light isn't the issue. Good luck! |

Re: got a light?
My 84 Blazer did the same thing. I found out the bottom ones were burnt out. They are made to have all 4 on for high beams.

Re: got a light?
Ummm...negative, as they are an electrical item, most parts stores won't take a return of them.
