12 bolt

I have a 12 bolt out of a 1969 truck with 3.73 gears. I am putting it in my truck with a TH400 with a manual valve body. I will eventually build a 6.0 that makes 500 - 550 torque for the truck. Will the 12 bolt be able to take the abuse? The truck will mostly see street use with occasional runs at the track. I've heard that the pinion shafts are smaller than the cars and break quite easily. I intend to use good Moser axles and a C clip eliminator kit if I use the 12 bolt. Thanks for any input.

Re: 12 bolt

mines holding up. I changed to 33 spline moser axles with c-clip eliminators and a full spool.

Re: 12 bolt

Are the c-clip eliminaters the same for the truck 12 bolt as the car 12 bolt?

Re: 12 bolt

I have the 35 spline spool and axle package from Moser leaving on a trans break. They have held up fine. About the ring and Pinion you can use a car gear in truck Housing but it takes conversion bearings. I believe randy's ring and pinion has all the numbers.

Re: 12 bolt

Good info. I'll probobly go with a posi instead of a spool so I can keep the truck streetable.

Re: 12 bolt

Oh come on, I drive mine all over town down the free way w/ 28x13.5 M/T
LOL cool good luck.
I recommend the Moroso unit or Eaton. They bite hard but plenty of street ability.

Re: 12 bolt

Mark Williams is makin a 33 spline posi so you can run stronger axles. Its for a car 12 bolt but I think it should work in a truck. Chris.
