Finally Finished - Thanks For All the Help!
I purchased this truck back in 2005 and began taking it apart in 2006 for a full restoration.
I don't believe I would have ever completed it without the help and inspiration from the members of this site. The first help came when Woogeroo emailed me a detailed wiring diagram which I used when taking the vehicle apart and again when putting everything back together. As all of you know there are many sources for parts for these trucks, but there are some things you just cannot locate. Thanks to Lil Red, I now have a spring for my glove compartment door. He is a great source for those hard-to-find parts. The truck was an old farm vehicle with low mileage and was the most base model available from Chevrolet in 1965. My goal was to restore the vehicle as close to STOCK as possible; just as it may have come from the factory. It has the Thrift-Air Heater, a Sun Visor and Outside Mirror on the Driver's Side only and one-speed windshield wipers. I did all of the work myself with the only exception being recovering the bench seat, which I am not satisfied with and plan to change in the future. Overall I am satisfied with the results, but there are a few things I might have done differently if starting over today. I wanted to thank everyone for their inspiration as there were times when the project would stall and I would check Alan's Classic Build Thread and see that others were working in the cold of winter, so I figured could too. A few pictures were added so I hope you get an idea of the results. Thanks Again! |

Re: Finally Finished - Thanks For All the Help!
I was not aware that one of these trucks could be "finished". I always thought they were just works in progress. It's good to see one finished. Now I know it's possible. Thanks

He's making us click a link!..........
Kidding! I did click of course, very nice truck!! I have always wondered what these trucks looked like without buckets of dirt and grime but with real paint.

I have noticed that you are way up in Ball Ground; that's a beautiful area. I'm down in Griffin, just south of the Atlanta Airport.

Just one question. How did you finish yours with under 21 post? OH yeah you were out working instead of sitting at the computer.
