new guy saying hi

hi my name is Don. just joined the forum. i have a 61 apache fleetside shortbed truck (235/sm420) im excited to get into a forum for this truck as its my main project and i plan to do a restomod or should i say restoSLAM to it.

i bought it for $250 in napa ca from the original owner. towed it home and brought it back to life with just some fresh gas. registered it and did a full tune up and a new brake/clutch master cylinder. Its running and driving great. grandpa had the engine rebuilt in the 70s and you can tell.

ill have pics today or tomorrow. my plans are to get this thing to lay frame but i want it restored with some era correct mods.

i really want to ditch the sm420 for a 3 on the tree and id like to find one of the 3speed overdrive transmissions. im keeping the 235. i want to swap it to a big back window and ditch the bardon rear bumper. other then that im happy with it.

Hello and welcome to the board

Looks like a really straight truck. That's cool that it's a Custom Cab. You don't see many with the CC side trim.....I believe that's a bit rare. Keep us updated with your progress.

Yeah I'm stoked about the trim. It was only made for 60-61. I've always wanted a 61
I had a 60 fleetside shortbed 4x4 before but didn't like the grill or hood as much as a 61. Any of you guys know a good company to send the trim out to bang the dents out?

Nice truck. The custom cab side chromes look to be in very good shape. Gonna be nice when done.

First, welcome to the board.
I've never heard of anyone being able to straighten stainless trim.
