BB brake booster clearance question
Will the driver side tall BB valve cover clear the booster? Seems I read sometime ago there could be a clearance issue.

I think there are a couple of different height valve covers so it is a crap shoot. I guess the only thing you can do is get a measurement on the valve covers you want to use and measure the head to booster clearance... LockDoc

Re: BB brake booster clearance question
Most 'tall' valve covers are around 3 1/2 to 3 5/8 inch. It will be very close. I'm (was) running short aluminum M/T valvecovers and they are 2 5/8 tall and I had just about an inch between the edge of the booster and the top of the valvecover.

Re: BB brake booster clearance question
Not sure if the height changes with 71 BB mounts vs 72 BB mounts but I had 71 mounts and short covers and had plenty of room. I'm going back with 72 mounts so that may change.

Re: BB brake booster clearance question
and what size booster?
i have a 70, 402, small booster, with talls, and there is a ton more of room. my 71 with 73+ motor mounts and the big booster wouldn't clear medium height. |

Re: BB brake booster clearance question
got a pic of mine - see red circle, it's pretty close. I'm running BB motor mounts, not sure what year though.
and yes, my motor is ugly and my booster isn't hooked up... It's all scattered in a hundred pieces in my garage now, so that will change over the fall/winter!

Re: BB brake booster clearance question
Thanks for the replies. I am running 72 mounts but do not have the motor installed. I want to be able to service the valve cover gaskets if necessary.

Re: BB brake booster clearance question
like BossHogg69 i had those same covers and they are removable but you have to go in over the intak and roll them down over the rocker arms, you cant do them like a short cover.
