Stock LCA+tubular UCA+bags

Hey all,
I was thinking about running tubular upper control arms with stock lower control arms plus bags. I was thinking about doing this because of alignment issues with running stock upper control arms and bags. I plan on keeping the truck at stock height until I can make the deep investment of lowering it the right way the first time. Also, i would like to run bags up front because I plan on putting in a much heavier motor. Is this worth it? Should I run stock uppers and lowers? Let me know.

Most guys consider tube LCA's a priority over tube UCA's. What alignment issues are you worried about? The only thing some tube UCA's will correct is ball joint angles AFAIK.

I guess I am worried about getting a solid alignment. i have read a ton of post about alignment issues and stock uca and lca...maybe I should stop reading and just do it.

Save your money and invest it in quality lowering components first.
(drop shocks, drop spindles, sway bars, and a dependable quality air bag set up).

Then,... when you have everything the way you want it,... and still want to spend that extra cash in your pocket,... treat yourself to a nice set of upper AND lower tubular a-arms.
They are like the "icing on the cake",... but not a necessity.

Some tubular UCA's (on a static drop) are built to help with camber and caster issues.

With your air bags you will be able to air up the front for an "alignment correct" ride height.

The uppers most people make for bagged trucks will solve all your upper arm problems at once.

1. upper arm length, need longer upper to compensate for negative camber.
2. correct balljoint angle for a very low truck. a 0 degree angle is the best for most fullsize trucks.
3. new poly bushings, replaces the old worn rubber bushings.
4. new balljoints, replaces worn balljoints.
5. the look of tube arms.

The reason for doing uppers first is:

uppers need to be longer on a bagged truck. Uppers also need a balljoint angle closer to 0 degrees on a bagged truck. lowers are already at an acceptable angle for a bagged truck in most cases as well as the correct length and easy bag placement.

Most people may choose to buy lowers first but if they did their research they would find more reasons to swap the uppers first.

I have tube uppers and stock lowers on my 77, makes it look cleaner also
