C6Z Wheels on my 68' (5x4.75 bolt pattern)
I hope i'm posting in this in the right area as I didn't see one specifically for wheel questions but since it is to my 68' I'll post it here.
I'm looking to put the new c6 z06 wheels on my 68. I know this is a 5x4.75 (small chevy) pattern but a couple things come to mind. I know the backspacing on the 19x12 wheel is a lot more than what these trucks were designed for so how would I get the face of the wheel where it needs to be on the front and the rear? Right now, i have 6 lug all the way around, but will be going to 5 in the next couple days and lowering the truck at the same time. anyone else gone to the 5x4.75 pattern and ran ZR1 wheels or anything else like that? TIA! |

i think they come up to 2 inches maybe you can find a wider rearend like from a 88-98 and get a inch or too on each side not really sure on the front at all just a thought

Re: C6Z Wheels on my 68' (5x4.75 bolt pattern)
i have a 68 swb....had 6 lug all the way around....all i did was take out the 6 lug rear end....picked up a 97 z28 camaro disc rear end cut off all the brackets for springs, etc and mounted right up....was not even much different in the width of the rearend. when i bolted it up it sat good in the rear like it was built their not added, after it was bolted.....WAAALA....i had 5x4.75 disc brakes on the rear. then up front i will buy the big brake kit from mcgaughy's with the 5x4.75 pattern and bolt on whatever 5x4.75 wheels i want later.....just my opinion...but i would do it again well worth adding disc and newer rear end with 5x4.75 pattern all at once...

Either of ya'll selling the 6 lugs that were taken off. I'm in the market for 6 lug rims and tires.

I will be selling my 6 lug rally wheels (black with chrome beauty ring and centercaps when i'm done - can get pics)
I like the f-body rear end idea. But I still think that the backspacing is going to be way off. |

Re: C6Z Wheels on my 68' (5x4.75 bolt pattern)
the newer 4th gen 10 bolt rearends are weak units. Lots of guys have broken them with stock power (me included)
I don't like the looks of newer car style wheels on these old trucks, they have too much backspacing for my taste for what a classic vehicle should have (JMHO) |
