83 silverado shorty for $1900
So I'm looking at trucks from 63-87. Not looking for a perfect truck, just a good truck. This is what I found local to me. It runs good, most of the typical rust, but surprisingly clean for it's age. No cab support rust, no rust around wheel wells, Doors are great shape, needs passenger fender liner. Here are a couple of pics.
There is one thing that bugs me though. It has i assume a replacement motor, looks like a GM crate. Well it has no dip stick for the oil. I got to check the oil. I have never had a GM crate before, I think there are provisions on both sides of the block. What would be involved to get a dip stick on it? Looks like a manifold may have to be removed if I put it on the drivers side. Anybody install a dipstick with the motor installed and all hooked up? Last edited by 70k52wd; 10-25-2009 at 05:14 PM. I can see them. I wonder if the site is doing something freaky. I read something Josh wrote about attachments not showing up. I guess he wasn't kidding.lol

That does not work. You need a login and password for that link. Try just attaching them to a post.

Re: 83 silverado shorty for $1900
Looks like a good project Charlie.
You know it's going to need a 5/7 drop, maybe bags,... or a Dropmember. Oh, wait,... I guess you better buy it first. And,... I think you should be able to install a dipstick in it. I have the "boat anchor 305" out of my '86, if you need some dipstick pictures. I would install a stock bench seat,... and drive the wheels off of it.

Re: 83 silverado shorty for $1900
It would be nexy to impossible to install a dipstick on it because sounds like they possibly plugged both holes but you might be able to drop the oil pan and tap em out.

1900 is a bit much with all that rust. I picked up for 700 and had a little better body.
